Local Info
Facilities.
These are just a few of our personal favourites. This is not a complete list of what is available. At the house you will find a book with notes and cards for recommended places.
It covers things like beaches in Cannes, restaurants in Cannes, golf in Cannes, tennis in Cannes, shopping in Cannes etc.
Beaches
There are both public and private beaches within walking distance of the house. Private beaches have a restaurant on them and you pay for use of a sun lounge by day or half day. Public beaches require that you bring your own seats and food/drink. There is normally a kiosk near by selling sandwiches and drink. There are 2 beach chairs at the house.
The closest beach is about 70 meters or 100 yards walk west of the house. This is both private and public.
Often on the Bay of Cannes side, the water will be calm, while on the side facing Cap d'Antibes, the water will have waves and the windsurfers and sailboats will be out. Because the villa is located on the Pointe in Cannes, you can take advantage of both easily.
Water quality
All of the beaches listed below on the Croisette side had very clean water.
Plage l’Ecrin
Tel 04 93 43 43 33
Closest beach for relaxing, and enjoying the view. Open year around. They even have a paved area if you detest sand! And a slimming menu, if you so desire. On occasion they have returned the large empty bottle of rose to our table filled with a cranberry liquor slush arrangement…
Plage Bijou
Tel 04 93 43 70 55
Owned by 2 welcoming ladies, great with children, and the closest beach for relaxing. Normally open year around. This area is said to have cleaner water along La Croisette. Call to reserve bed ahead of time, if you want to be in the first row along the sea.
Food - Wide menu ranging from omelette and chips to salad and typical French 3 course meals.
Plage Miramar
57 La Croisette
Tel 04 93 94 24 74
Recently renovated to a Bali-esque theme. Great music in the back ground. 15 minute walk along La Croisette to get to it, but worth it. Open from April through September.
Food - Good salads, we like the crab cake salad. Usually offer a enfant menu of the day, something like fish and chips.
Plage L'Ondine
Tel 04 93 94 23 15
Great food, not of the meat and 3 veg variety, but more like lobster salads. Not a great menu for children, we tend to make this a child free, Chablis filled day.

Restaurants
There are loads of restaurants near the house and in Cannes... From 50 meters away to a 15 minute walk to a 15 minute drive. Walk along the Croisette and look at menus or go to Place d'Etang side for something a little more simple and less expensive.
In the welcome folder in the house, you will find the business cards of many we frequent. The Red Michelin Guide is also a good reference as is the Guantie Guide, both of which we try to keep at the house for the convenience of guests. Also see Food Delivery below.

Galland Traiteur
7 rue Durand de Sartoux le Village
Mouans Sartoux
04 93 75 63 57
If you want to do a meal of 3 star quality for a dinner party at the house, I recommend using this traiteur. They are not close by, but in Mouans Sartoux. You fetch the food before hand, and then warm up each course to serve. It is the most pleasant way to have a top quality meal for 8+. A 6 course meal including petits fours sales (appetisers), foie gras, lobster mouse, duck or venison, chocolate cake 'biscuit', and mirlitons gourmands is about 225 ff a person, or 30 US dollars. This is fine dining.
As I use other traiteurs in Cannes, I will update this, so that I can recommend someone closer by. Galland Traiteur is a good 30 minute drive away.
