What immediately surrounds the villa?

We are in a unique location because almost all of the villas like this have been destroyed and turned into multi-unit dwellings. There are two 2-story apartment buildings on east and south side of house. There is garden area for a larger Croisette apartment building on west side, and the private short street to the north side. The mature garden does a good job of hiding them and the house. If you want views as far as you can see and isolation, you should rent elsewhere. If you want to walk to the beach and restaurants, yet have a villa holiday, this is for you.

What is it like in Cannes from October through April?

This is our favourite time of year. Each month has a different festival, mimosa, music, dance, etc. On a sunny day you can still have lunch on the beach -- but wear a dark color to soak up the sun, and layers to adjust. When it rains, it tends to be for 3 days (a mistral), then it blows through and brings with it clear blue skies that allow you to see to the snow capped mountains behind Nice during the winter months. Traffic is light, shopping is great, and the majority of restaurants are open, only some of the beach ones are closed. (Bijou, Rado, etc. are open year around, and have enclosed glass areas for dining on the beach on a windy day.)

It is a great time of year with kids for hunting along the beach, fishing, play grounds, roller blading, etc. We will update www.rivierakids.com in near future to give information on what is available in nearby area.

What is the best month to come for a holiday?

September. Sea is still warm. Crowds are less. Heat has some relief in it. Yet everything is still on offer.

What are rooms sizes and composition?

BEDROOM 1

4 meters x 3.5 meters containing 2 x 90 x 200 beds, armoire, bedside tables, 2 chairs, ceiling fan. Room done in beige/cream with ensuite shower and sink and pharmacy and hair dryer. These beds make a European King size bed, or 2 single beds.

BEDROOM 2

3.8 meters x 3.5 meters containing 2 x 90 x 200 beds, walnut armoire, leather chair, bedside tables, ceiling fan. Room done in terracotta/rose with adjoining bath/shower, sink, pharmacy, bidet and hair dryer. These beds make a European King size bed, or 2 single beds.

BEDROOM 3

3.2 meters x 3.5 meters containing 2 x 80 x 190 beds, pine closet, trunk, chair, bedside table, A/C and ceiling fan. Room done in yellow/orange and animal skin prints with sink and pharmacy in room, and adjoining above bathroom. These beds make a European Queen size bed, or 2 single beds. Note the cupboard in this room is rather small, and the room is not necessarily suitable for 2 large people.

BEDROOM 4

2.8 meters x 3.5 meters containing 2 x 80 x 190 gigone beds, built in closet, bedside table, stool, ceiling fan. Room done in green/blue with ensuite shower and sink and pharmacy. These beds make a European Queen size bed, or 2 single beds.

If you put a cot in this room, we advise you to put it on the window side of the room, and not the wall against the kitchen, as there is a refrigerator on the other side of that wall with a transformer in it. This can cause a small electromagnetic reading up to a foot away from the refrigerator.

Are the beaches good for children?

The beach is sandy all along Cannes (unlike Nice) and good for kids. The one at L'Ecrin, our closest, is white sand that they bring in to a level kiddy waist height. There are also pontoons you can swim out to for older kids/adults. All of Bijou plage is gentle for kids. The main Croisette area is also good, however the drop off is a bit sooner. There are also beach toys at the house, and many of the beach restaurants have them also. Water quality is excellent.
